Question: My Dog does not know HOW to swim. Is water therapy really the right thing for him?
Answer: First of all, it’s really important to understand that swimming is only a portion of the benefit of warm water therapy. With some dogs, swimming isn’t even a part of the program at all. We always begin with bodywork and ROM work at the steps of the pool and slowly get deeper in the water as your dog’s trust and comfort allows.
Depending on your dog’s reasons for coming to La Paw Spa, and depending on your vet’s goals and recommendations, we’ll progress slowly with swimming and build a safe program that works for everybody.
When your dog is introduced to swimming, it will be after he/she has established a relationship and trust with Cindy. She will be in the water with your pup and assisting with every step so your dog feels safe.
